cineBLAST! Vol 1

TOUGH by Aiyana Elliot. A film that sinks its teeth into the mess left over by the selfishness of flower power "hippies".. who produce a daughter and then seem unable to provide any direction in her life. TOUGH won first prize for "best Acting". "writing" and "directing" at the NYU First Run Film Fest.

FISHMIND by Matthias Freier, revisiting stop action and other "underground" techniques from the 50's...first time German director's B/W visually precocious primordially obessive story of a man with the mind of a fish plumbs the depths of New York City.

SHEEP'S MEADOW by Brooke Smith. Ms. Smith, a fine actress in her own right (Vanya On 42nd Street, Kansas City), directs a simple but gratifying semi-documentary of a woman's trip with a small child to Central Park.

HUNGREED by Ira Israel. A quirky story of survival, trust, and fate in a New York coffee shop.

WATCH WITH MOTHER by Sam Serafy. An experimental film which again explores the Oedipus complex admidst dueling pink and blue vacuum cleaners and clashing cultures.

THE SIDE OF THE ROAD by David Burris. A B/W slice of Southern culture... a ghost story with a fine performance by JARED HARRIS (I Shot Any Warhol).

THE GIRL FROM MOUSH by Garine Torossian an Armenian/Canadian filmmaker. A profound experimental film which reflects on culture, gender, and memory. Garine's work has been screened at MOMA in NYC

ZINKY BOYS GO UNDERGROUND by Paul Tickell won the British Academy Award in 1994 for best dramatic short. Red Army veterans struggle to survive in Moscow subways amidst the ashes of past dreams and nightmares.

cineBLAST! Vol 2

Frog Crossing by Jamie Babbit and Ari Gold,

Generic Metal Titan by Timothy Naylor,

Tick by John Hamberg,

An Autumn Wind by Iara Lee,

Boom by Morgan Freeman,

Bad Liver and Broken Heart by Terry Stacey,

Call Waiting by Mimi Steinberg,

A Counter Fancy by Brain D Cange

GENERIC METAL TITAN is a gritty story of teenage rage in America...industrial rock and roll... shop classes for the metal "heads" with no future but the next weekend at the mall. A powerful first film that gets under the skin of America.

FROGS CROSSING a 35mm wide screen...West Coast reflection on the possible contradiction of being kind ... cool... and in love at the same time.

AN AUTUMN WIND.. .haikus written and read by ALAN GINSBURG... film poetry in the hands of a talented and refined visual artist.

TICK (1996 Sundance Fest.) starring Michael Showalter... comicly inept bomb experts that find love is a better bomb.

BOOM starring Brendan Sextan Jr. (Hurricane,Sundance 96) three hurting children are caught up in a dream that will never happen... in a gas station on a road to no where.

BAD LIVER, BROKEN HEART... America's dreams were once stitched together by the Grey Hound Bus... on dusty roads... from coast to coast. This ironic revisiting of that state of mind, in a NYC bar makes for interesting cinema.

CALL WAITING. A child is left in the NY Grand Central Station while his mother buys a train ticket. He watches a parade of people reveal themselves on telephones... only hearing one side of the conversation... worlds he has never seen... situations beyond his years and understanding.

A COUNTER FANCY starring BILL SAGE.... How can a waitress make her boring day in a diner more interesting? As Godard once said all you need is a girl and a gun.
